Things to Hear
Gospel & Contemporary Christian Music
The local McDonalds retaurant has gospel singing on Thursday nights. On Friday and Saturday there is also gospel singing at the Gospel Singing Hall across from the hospital. Several churches have gospel concerts from time to time.
Classical and Pop Music
Bryan College has several musicals and student or faculty concerts throughout the school year. In addition, the college also brings in professional talent occasionally. Different churches present frequent musical performances, seasonal ones as well as spontaneous ones.
Rock and Other Kinds of Music
Dayton has its share of local breed rock bands. The Tennessee Strawberry Festival in May showcases rock talent as well as country, bluegrass or gospel music and plenty of bands present marching music in the Strawberry Parade. The Holiday Stroll in downtown Dayton has a DJ with recorded music, which includes rock and holiday fare. Dayton's Old-Fashioned Christmas parade has bands, strolling carolers and minstrels.
Big Band Valentine's Dinner/Dance, Appalachian music program, a cowboy band and a classical guitar and cello concert are planned for 2007.
