TESTIMONIALSJuly 20, 2006 To Rhea County: It has been more than a year since I left Southern California to relocate my company, Buckaroo Communications, to the city of Dayton, Rhea County, Tennessee. And although the transition was both difficult and time consuming, we are happy to report that we not only love it here, but that the relocation is proving to be worthwhile in every way, and all that you said it would be. As you know, the cost of moving a company the size of Buckaroo, and its people, is no small undertaking, especially considering it was essential that no interruption in magazine production be allowed to occur. The preparation and help we received locally in getting everything set up and operational ensured not only that this happened, but also that our initial move here was a smooth transition, both for the company and its people. It has literally been a seamless move, and even though we had no prior experience in relocation, we did not miss any on-sale dates for our magazines. Many of our people have purchased homes-some are still in the process-but to the person, everyone has been made to feel welcome and a part of the community. A company built on personalization, as ours is, could not ask for more. We lost more than half of our people in the move, those with families in California who could not or did not wish to relocate, but we were able to replace them with local employees, who, with training, are in the process of picking up where the others left off. I won't say it has not been difficult-it has, from a work-related aspect-but the work ethic here has proved the difference, and fortunately for us, our local Dayton and surrounding area employees love it here at Buckaroo. None of this could have happened if Dayton and Rhea County had not lived up to their promise of opportunity. Now our company is growing once again, enabling us to add to our workforce and our product portfolio. We have even added another new magazine since relocating here, and in 2007 we plan to add another. While still in a temporary facility, we have elected to remain in the city limits of Dayton, and instead of constructing a new building in the Industrial Park to accommodate our growth in personnel, we are in the process of restoring an important downtown building with some historical significance to the city of Dayton. We enjoy the small-town atmosphere, while benefiting from the rapid growth and cost controls our company will be enjoying on an ongoing basis in the coming years. In all that has taken place this past year, and through all of the promises and projections of stability, operational connections and help, only one promised issue remains unresolved, and that's a complication with the state of Tennessee concerning state tax relief and is not a local issue. We will continue to pursue that promise, but I do not feel that this in any way reflects upon the willingness of Rhea County and the city of Dayton to ensure that the strategic relocation of Buckaroo to its present home be handled as transparently and as smoothly as humanly possible. Because we are a local company with national scope and distribution, we do not rely upon local traffic for our business revenues; instead we rely upon local business atmosphere and operational opportunities and its respective employee base to enable our countrywide influence and market impact to happen at all. For that we are grateful for all that the city and county have done to make all of this a very real possibility. Warm Regards,
John Dianna |
